During this twenty-four-week class, middle-and high school students will learn memory and delivery techniques as they write and present five speeches:  self-introductory, narrative, expository, persuasive, and impromptu.

To present their speeches a webcam and a working microphone will be crucial.

Your child will have a live interactive class each week, assignments, and optional Minecraft activities.  Writing assignments will be submitted via Google docs.

Our class time will be highly interactive; therefore, every student must participate and must have a working microphone and webcam. A participation grade will be given to each student.

This course is a two semester class using the required textbook Introduction to Public Speaking (Student Book and Binder).

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents are the primary educators. My goal is to come alongside you to teach writing concepts, the grammar presented in the book,  and explain stylistic techniques while you provide the quiet learning environment, keep your students on task during class time, review lessons, edit, and ensure that coursework is properly completed and submitted.

WHAT IS INSTITUTE FOR EXCELLENCE IN WRITING (IEW)?
IEW is the award-winning Structure and Style Method for teaching writing. IEW helps children succeed in communicating confidently and effectively. Rather than facing a writing prompt with the dreaded “blank page,” students are taught nine structural writing models with style in each assignment. Students will develop confidence in writing while working towards independence and creativity. The IEW methods can be applied to other assignments, too. When students write consistently, they become confident, and competent.

As an experienced IEW Certified Instructor and an Online Instructor , you can trust that I will teach the Structure and Style method with integrity.
