SKrafty Writing Class with Medieval History Based Writing(2023/2024)

It’s writing time!  Please join us for a fun-filled writing class with live classes, grading, and some Minecraft.  These courses will be a 2 semester class, and the text book will vary depending on the age level.  Each class can be used for a full writing or grammar credit.  We will have a live class each week, assignments, and of course Minecraft activities to go along with it.  The live class will be recorded to watch later.  These classes will be taught using methodology by The Institute for Excellence in Writing by teachers certified to teach with this method.  You can read more about this method below:

Institute for Excellence in Writing

Following are the details:

  • Weekly teacher led live class and textbook assignments.  Classes will meet in a virtual classroom in which the teacher will present the lesson and interact with students.
  • Students will log into online class portal for weekly assignments.
  • Weekly Minecraft Project.
  • Papers and assignments will be graded in the writing classes.  Grammar classes will have online quizzes which are automatically graded.
  • In – Game rewards for completing course milestones.

NOTE:  Due to the grading and teaching time involved these classes have limited space.

Grades 7-12 Writing : Medieval History Writing (Student Book)Student Resource Packet

Description

Please join us for a fun-filled writing class with live classes, grading, and some Minecraft.  Each class can be used for a full writing or credit. Your student will have a live class each week, assignments, and optional Minecraft activities to go along with it. Writing assignments will be submitted via Google Docs. The live class will be recorded to watch later, if needed.  These classes are taught using methodology by The Institute for Excellence in Writing by teachers certified to teach with this method. Medieval History Writing is a level B IEW course.

Students will earn badges as they complete quizzes and a Diamond Armor badge when they complete the whole class.

This course will be a 2 semester class using the required textbooks Medieval History Writing (Student Book).

This class will begin on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM CST and will end Thursday, May 2nd, 2024.

A live interactive IEW class will engage your student each week. In addition, graded assignments as well as optional Minecraft activities are also provided.  This class is a full writing credit. Attending live class is essential for success, however, sessions will be recorded. Classes are taught using methodology by The Institute for Excellence in Writing® by teachers certified to teach with this method.

Requirements and Prerequisites

  • Premium Minecraft Account and Minecraft for PC or MAC if you are doing the Minecraft portion.
  • Minecraft account must be whitelisted on SKrafty Homeschool Minecraft Server.
  • Required Textbook see class descriptions:
    Please use code JoannJ if ordering from IEW.
  • Student should know the basics of building in Minecraft, and use proper Minecraft ettiquette (no griefing, etc.)
  • Students will be able to log in and begin on Tuesday, August 28th
