Description
It is so beneficial for students to be aware of what’s going on around them in order to be informed citizens and voters in the future. This class will help students gain a deeper knowledge of current issues and events through analysis and discussion of current and past news articles.
Each week we will discuss current events happening during that time. Students will will be required to bring in articles at times on certain topics and need to be prepared to present a summary of their articles periodically. Students will learn about bias, source consideration, the 5 W’s of a story, fact vs. opinion, World vs. National vs. Local News and more! We will also discuss current events and hot topics from a Christian worldview. Students will need a digital subscription to World Magazine.
NOTE: Due to the grading and teaching time involved these classes have limited space.
WHEN:
Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM from January 5th to March 30th.
WHO:
This course is for High School Students interested in studying Current Events and discussing them.
