Introduction to Speech

$249.99

Learning how to communicate effectively is a skill that is very important in life.  Whether your life goal is to become a pastor, doctor, lawyer, teacher, homeschooling mom, or to be able to more easily share your faith with others, this class will help you to ease those jitters and help formulate productive discussions.  In this class, we will study famous historical speeches,  speaking styles, speech categories and much more!  We’ll also talk about body language, voice inflection/tone, eye contact, and other things that make for a great speaker!

The best way to improve speech skills is to practice.  Building and practicing speeches will be a huge part of this course.  Students should come to class each week prepared to speak on previously assigned topics.  We will perform exercises weekly, and web cams will be heavily used in this course.  Students will participate in a speech marathon in March of 2020 (more details to come). Also included in this course is an introduction to NCFCA and competitive speech for those who might be interested in entering competitions.

REQUIRED TEXT:  NONE

NOTE:  Due to the grading and teaching time involved these classes have limited space.

WHEN:

Meets weekly on Mondays at 11:15 am – 12:15 from September 9th to March 23rd.
