It is so beneficial for students to be aware of what’s going on around them in order to be informed citizens and voters in the future. This class will help students gain a deeper knowledge of current issues and events through analysis and discussion of current and past news articles.
Each week we will discuss current events happening during that time. Students will will be required to bring in articles at times on certain topics and need to be prepared to present a summary of their articles periodically. Students will learn about bias, source consideration, the 5 W’s of a story, fact vs. opinion, World vs. National vs. Local News and more! We will also discuss current events and hot topics from a Christian worldview. Students will need a digital subscription to World Teen Magazine.
NOTE: Due to the grading and teaching time involved these classes have limited space.
Meets weekly on Mondays at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM from January 20th to April 27th.
This course is a continuation of the first semester course so students who are currently in the Fall current events class will be able to continue in this course. However, the course will also be great for new Current Events Students!
