Music permeates the human experience, is found in all cultures in all part of the world. The class is designed to help students think critically and reflectively about music and how they themselves find value in a work of music. Class topics and activities empower students to develop a deeper understanding of what they are listening to in music. Participating students will explore the elements of music using diverse examples found in classical literature, folk music, and popular music.
This class will include lessons and activities that offer a variety of ways for students to engage and learn. Activities will include listening, quizzes, and student projects. Student projects can be completed using a variety of approaches. Options will be covered and explained in class, and may include:
● Minecraft music projects, generally using a mod
● Projects in Noteflight
● Recording a student making/performing live music
● Slideshow style presentations
This is one-semester course; 14 weeks with a break for Thanksgiving.
Class will meet on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 3:45 CST beginning Sep 11, 2019 and ending on Dec.18, 2019.
