Description

It is so beneficial for students to be aware of what’s going on around them in order to be informed citizens and voters in the future.  This class will help students gain a deeper knowledge of current issues and events through analysis and discussion of current and past news articles.

Each week we will discuss current events happening during that time. Students will will be required to bring in articles at times on certain topics and need to be prepared to present a summary of their articles periodically.  Students will learn about bias, source consideration, the 5 W’s of a story, fact vs. opinion, World vs. National vs. Local News and more!  We will also discuss current events and hot topics from a Christian worldview.

Following are the details:

  • Weekly teacher led live class and assignments.  Classes will meet in a virtual classroom in which the teacher will present the lesson and interact with students.
  • Students will log into online class portal for weekly assignments.
  • Assignments will be graded.

NOTE:  Due to the grading and teaching time involved this class has limited space.
