Calling all fans of adventure… welcome to our Green Ember Book Club!
During this 8 week class, we will be reading the 1st book of the Green Ember series and we will be having lots of fun along the way. Each week we will meet to discuss the book (we will not read in class) and we will also do a fun craft or activity in class. I will also be adding some printables to the classroom for some added fun at home!
Our first week will be an introductory class, where we will meet and greet. We will also be making bookmarks for our club, to use for this book and future adventures! The following weeks, I will split up the reading as to not overwhelm any learner, but still making it possible to finish the book during the remaining 7 weeks (see schedule below).
During class, we will discuss what we have read, share thoughts and ideas, and do a book related craft or activity. This club will help learners learn to share their ideas with others, make friends, allow for expression during activity/craft time, and hopefully spark the value of reading!
The class will closely follow the below…
WEEK ONE – Introduction and getting to know each other, discussion on importance of reading, teasers for the Green Ember, and making of craft.
* Between week 1 and 2, learners will read chapters 1-6 of The Green Ember
WEEK TWO – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 2 and 3, learners will read chapters 7-12 of The Green Ember
WEEK THREE – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 3 and 4, learners will read chapters 13-18 of The Green Ember
WEEK FOUR – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 4 and 5, learners will read chapters 19-24 of The Green Ember
WEEK FIVE – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 5 and 6, learners will read chapters 25-30 of The Green Ember
WEEK SIX – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 6 and 7, learners will read chapters 31-36 of The Green Ember
WEEK SEVEN – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts)
* Between week 7 and 8 learners will read chapters 37-44 of The Green Ember
WEEK EIGHT – Brief introductions, book discussion, in class activity (games and/or crafts), and club good-byes.
Note that all “crafts” will be made with usual household materials, paper, paper plated, tin foil, and the like… and they will be specified in the classroom. Games will be Kahoot (though it is not required that a learner play via a device), bingo (which I will supply), and other fun activities!
Also note, this club can be for those that have ALREADY read the book, however, PLEASE… instruct your learner not to give any SPOILERS!
