Visual Art, whether two dimensional or three dimensional is as old as the history of humanity. Unlike other forms of art such as music, dance, or theater, a work of visual art may stay with us for millennia, speaking for the people who created it so many years earlier. The class is designed to help students think critically and reflectively about art and finding value in works of art. Class topics and activities will direct students to look at the form, construction, function, and effects of works of art. Participating students will explore the works of art found in fine art, folk art, and popular culture.
This class will include lessons and activities that offer a variety of ways for students to engage and learn. Activities will include class discussion, quizzes, and student projects. Student projects can be completed using variety of approaches. Options will be covered and explained in class, and may include:
- Minecraft projects
- Projects created in a paint program (suggestions will be given in class)
- Projects created using offline materials and submitting a digital image
- Slideshow style presentations
